Create parameters and parameter groups

How to create parameters and parameter groups that need to be in place to be able to give products different characteristics and filtering attributes.

In order to customize the characteristics and filtering attributes of your products, it is essential to create the desired parameter groups and parameters beforehand. Once you have successfully created them, these options will be available in the product editing view.

  • Go to: Products (PIM) > Parameters / Filters and click on NEW.

    Here you create the parameter group and put in the parameters you want.

  • Give the parameter group a name in the field Group Name. It will be shown in Merchant center and can be shown in the store as a title on product specifications in on the product page. 
    (External id field can be left empty because it's most often not needed by a base konfiguration) 
  • Set the parameter group as active and click on Save to then start adding parameters 


Add parameters into the parameter group 

Click thereafter on the Add Parameter button to then start adding parameters into the group. There are different types of parameters and settings for filtering possibilities.

Name The name on the parameter, for example "Color". Is shown in the store if the field is labeled as not filled in.   
Label

Makes it possible if you, as an example want to have a different name then the value as Name in the store. Is shown in the store if filled in. Usually the same as Name. 

Type

Which type of parameter. Controls which editing type the parameter will have inside the products editing view. 

Filter

Filter setting for the parameter. 

Show on site Controls if you want the parameter to be visible on your products page in your store. 


Description of the different types and filter choices

Type

Text: Is presented as an empty box in the product view where you can fill in the values yourself. (can not be filtered on).

Number: If the value will be numbers. 

Date and Time: Date. 

Multi choice picker: Is presented as a list in the product view with predefined values, like "red, "green" and "blue". The values are what you put in when you create a parameter. Important if you want to have more values.

Picker: Is presented as a list in product view with predefined values, like "1990", "2001" and "2022". Where you can only choose one of the options in the list. The values are what you put in when you create a parameter. Only important if one value is correct.

Filter

NoFilter: The parameter is as an example only in on the product page as information. Doesn't show up in filter choices in product listings.  

MultiFilter: Same as above except you can make a filter search with theses values. You should choose this template if you want to values to be filters in product listings. 

Range Filter: Only works with "Number", makes it possible to use a "slider" to filter values. 



Show on site

The checkbox show on site controls if the parameter values shall be shown inside of the product page on a product in the store or not. If clicked in the values will be visible on the product page. If you want only the parameter to be a filter in product listings or to be used in information to other parts without the information coming out on the product page, then you leave this checkbox empty.
