In the Geins Content Management System (CMS), a range of block templates is available to facilitate content creation. These block templates are organized into distinct categories, each designed to serve specific layout and functional purposes. The categories are as follows:

  • One Column Block: This template occupies the entire width of the screen and accommodates a single widget function, allowing for a focused and impactful content display.

  • Two Column Block: Designed to occupy half of the screen's width, the two column block template enables the use of two widget functions side by side. This layout provides a balanced presentation and increased versatility in content arrangement.

  • Three Column Block: Utilizing one-third of the screen's width, the three column block template can incorporate up to three widget functions. This layout is ideal for showcasing multiple pieces of content or functionalities within a compact space.

  • Four Column Block: Occupying one-fourth of the screen's width, the four column block template supports the integration of up to four widget functions. This arrangement is particularly suitable for content that benefits from a grid-style layout and allows for efficient utilization of screen real estate.

To select a block template you only need to drag and drop it to the content area. You can have as many blocks as you want. In the example below there are two block templates used, the first one titled "Hero" is a 1 column block and the second one titled "Banners" is a 2 column block.

Scheduling Content

Efficiently managing when your web page or its specific sections go live is a crucial aspect of maintaining an organized online presence. With the scheduling feature, you gain the ability to seamlessly plan the publication of your content while also previewing how it will appear on the scheduled date and time.

  1. Scheduling Page and Block Publication: By utilizing the "Schedule Publish" button, you can designate precise dates and times for either the entire web page or individual blocks within it to become publicly accessible. This means you can prepare your content in advance and have it automatically go live according to your specified schedule.

  2. Setting Start and Stop Times: Additionally, you have the option to establish both a start time and date, as well as a stop time and date for the content's availability. This feature proves valuable when you want to promote time-sensitive information or limit the visibility of certain content after a specific timeframe.

  3. Previewing Scheduled Content: To ensure that the published content looks and functions as intended, the scheduling tool offers a "spoofed" preview feature. This enables you to visualize the web page at the scheduled date and time before it actually goes live. By doing so, you can make any necessary adjustments and gain a better understanding of how your audience will experience the content.

Configuration Options for Content Blocks

When setting up content blocks for your web page, it's important to consider various aspects that dictate their appearance and behavior. These options help you optimize user experience and ensure that your content is displayed appropriately across different devices.

  1. Naming Your Content Block Assign a meaningful name to each content block you create. For instance, if the block features a prominent hero banner, you could label it "Hero." This naming practice proves particularly useful when managing multiple blocks within the same page, aiding in easy identification and organization.

  2. Mobile Behavior Options There are two primary choices for how content blocks behave on mobile devices: "Stack" and "Collapsed." By default, the "Stack" option is selected. This setting allows the block's content to be stacked vertically on mobile screens, maintaining readability. If you opt for the "Collapsed" behavior, this needs to be configured during the initial setup of your system. The "Collapsed" setting would make the block's content appear in a condensed form, optimizing space on smaller screens.

3. Display Settings for Content blocks can be displayed in different ways, catering to diverse viewing preferences. The following display settings are available:

  • "Always Visible": This is the default setting, ensuring the block is constantly displayed on the page across all devices.
  • "Only Visible on Desktop": This option restricts the block's visibility solely to desktop devices, excluding mobile screens.
  • "Only Visible on Mobile": Conversely, this option ensures the block is visible exclusively on mobile devices, hiding it on desktop views.

4.Design Settings consider the design aspect of your content block, which influences its appearance and layout. The default design is labeled "Narrow," resulting in a block that occupies only a portion of the screen's width. Alternatively, you can choose the "Full Width" design, causing the block to span the entire width of the screen for a more impactful visual presence.
